Build Assist ​

​Our 8,000 square foot facility is equipped with the tools, hardware, jigs, and other supplies needed in successfully assisting you to take your project from a design on paper to a well crafted, beautifully painted, comfortable aircraft in the sky. We will also assist you in managing the 51% rule to ensure proper fulfillment of its requirements. We are available to assist through the entire build process or on a specific needs basis. Safety is a priority and carefully detailed work is put into every aspect of your build assist experience.

Composite Fabrication  ​

Our core business is composite aircraft fabrication. From structural members to composite interior panels, as well as repair to existing structures, we can meet all of your needs. We have the equipment and skills to construct or assemble most any composite part.

Painting

You only have one chance to make a first impression! Our painters produce the highest quality finishes using only the best and more advanced products. Projects have included, among others, the prototype of the Lionheart, Many RV's, and all available Lancair aircraft. We have also painted many other composite and metal experimental aircraft, and enjoy the challenge of a new design! Company owner, Brad Simmons, is a certified PPG Paint Technician. Products of the Airframes Inc. team have been showcased on the covers of Kit planes and Airbrush Action magazines, plus have been the recipients of many awards, including over 15 Lindy Awards. In fact, Airframes Inc. has won more Lindy Awards that all the other Build assistance shops combined! ​​

Upholstery  ​

Comfort and appearance are essential components of the final stages of aircraft completion. We will assist you to ensure you get the look, feel, and color that best fits the design of your aircraft as well as your personal preferences. ​

Condition Inspection ​

Airframes Inc. can provide you with your annual condition inspection to ensure proper flying safety standards are being met for problem-free flying. Pre-Buy inspections are also available, on-site or off, to assist you in your consideration of an aircraft purchase.

Damage Repair

Whether you landed gear up or worse, ... Airframes Inc. has what it takes to put your aircraft back together and get it safely flying again. Our experience, tools, and workmanship will make your composite aircraft look and feel like nothing ever happened. A key advantage of using Airframes Inc. for your repair needs is that engine, paint, and upholstery repair work are all handled in-house, under the direction of one individual.

Avionics

From instrument panel installation to upgrading existing equipment, Airframes Inc. has the experience to handle any electrical requirement. Kit planes are a unique challenge for most certified shops because of the lack of standardization and the inclusion of new non-certified equipment.

2 & 3 Series Lancairs

Airframes Inc. has been involved with building Lancair kits longer than any other build-assist shop. In fact, an Airframes Inc. assisted Lancair 360 beat the factory demo plane into that air by about 1 week!  As such, we are uniquely positioned to offer perspective regarding proper build techniques that are accurate both then and now. A lot has changed over the years, and for the most part, kitplane building has become easier with the advent of factory fast build parts. The early 3-series kits leave a lot more to the imagination of the builder. Let us help you work through the unique challenges of building -or rebuilding- an early Lancair kitplane.

• Project Evaluation: Whether buying or selling, Airframes Inc. can assist you in determining if the kit you are considering is of acceptable quality.
• Weight and Balance: Airframes Inc. can assist you in weighing your project plane.
• Training: We can provide you, individually or as a group, assistance in setting up a workplace, establishing task lists and processes, and selecting, hiring, and training staff.
• Pressurization Testing: Airframes Inc. is experienced in safely testing pressurization systems in composite structures, including identifying and repairing leaks.
• Pitot/Static Certification: Airframes Inc. has partnered with Static-Aire Inc. to provide pitot/static system certification and mode A and mode C transponder checks to experimental class aircraft.
• Deice System Installation: We are familiar with weeping wing, pneumatic boots, electroexplusive, and RDD’s Therm-X deice systems.
• Air Conditioning System Installation: Airframes Inc. suggests the Flightline A/C system, but we are experienced in the installation of various brands.
• Turbine Conversions: We can assist with retrofit Turbine installations into previously flying aircraft. We have experience with Walter, Garrett, and Pratt & Whitney engines.
• Airbag seat belts: Airframes Inc. is experienced with the installation and maintenance of Amsafe airbag seat belts.
